Károly Holecz (Slovene: Karči Holec) (born 24 February 1969) is a Slovenian writer, journalist, and former mayor of the village Orfalu, near Szentgotthárd, Hungary.
His parents are Károly Holecz Sr. and Sára Skerlák. Born in Szentgotthárd, he went to school in Apátistvánfalva, and grammar school in Körmend. After that he graduated in Szombathely, at Dániel Berzsenyi College (now University of West Hungary - Savaria University Center), after studying Slovene language and technology.
He worked at the Hungarian Slovenian weekly Porabje, and between 1994 - 2006 was the mayor of Orfalu.[1] He has been awarded recognition as a notable member of the Slovenian minority in Hungary.[2]
In 2003, he published a collection of stories Andovske zgodbe, Andovske prpovejsti (Stories of Orfalu)[3] in Slovene and Prekmurian language.
